In 2007, Anna Runnings had an opportunity to purchase a working mill (formerly the Crofton Fibre Mill) on Vancouver Island. She had to hire a truck and crane, but got it moved to her property in the Qualicum Bay area, where she erected a new Quonset-style building to house the mill.

The building, thirty by forty feet with fifteen foot ceilings, houses equipment ranging from an 1870s carding machine to a 1960s spinning machine that handles up to 14 spinning heads at once.

“I can’t remember a time I didn’t want to learn to spin.”
